XPS 15 Further Notes

November 20, 2015

Couple notes on my typing experience ... the keyboard deck feels rigid in a good way, no flex to it. However, I'm finding the keys themselves a little difficult to type on. The keys are small but with wide gaps between them. The spacebar was initially a little mushy and not registering all my keypresses but now it's fine. I did my usual typing speed test and while I can get 130 WPM on my X1 Carbon and MS Surface Book, I can only hit 110 on the XPS 15.

Trackpad is good, too. Nice texture, great size.

I did not realize, but apparently the XPS 15 sold at the Microsoft Store (i.e. the one I bought) is their exclusive edition that has very little bloat installed. It's a pleasure to come to a computer without Norton bloody Antivirus pre-installed.

The laptop runs on a 130w power adapter. Sadly, that means the machine won't work on in-seat power on the airplane. Might be a deal breaker for me.
